How strange and foolish is man. He loses his health in gaining wealth. Then, to regain his health he wastes his wealth. He ruins his present while worrying about his future, but weeps in the future by recalling his past. He lives as though death shall never come to him, but dies in a way as if he were never born. By Imam Ali (a.s)
How important is food to man? As the saying goes, ‘do we eat to live or we live to eat’? Does the food we eat play any significant role in our help system? When I was growing up as a child, I will eat any food that comes my way just to fill my stomach. At times not because I am hungry but just to have a taste of the food served.
As a young man, I realized it is not every food that is worth eating. Studies have proven that majority of the sicknesses found in man is as a result of the food we eat. This is because, what goes into our system will either make or break us. It is therefore, important to check the food we in order to prevent some of the sicknesses we contract.
We do often hear how some patients who are in critical conditions are place on diets. Does it mean there is healing in the food we eat? As the saying goes “If diet is wrong, medicine is no use and when diet is correct, medicine is of no need.” If the latter is true, then why don’t we check the food we eat? This will help us cut down our budget on healthcare and thereby channel our scarce resources into tackling other important issues.
Lately, some persons, group of persons, and organizations have been vigorously campaigning for natural healing through food. This is to further emphasize that, each and every one should know the kind of food or diet which is good for their system. This will help in averting the rampant increase in recorded cases of sicknesses in our health delivery system.
Is it in our interest to promote healthy eating and to check our diets? What should we do to stay healthy through healthy diet?
